The LRNRD’s annual tree planting program encourages area landowners to engage in soil erosion and conservation practices. On average, the LRNRD sells 25,000 trees each year.
Mechanical Tree Plants
Contact your local NRCS for help in determining the type and number of trees needed. The NRCS technician will make arrangements for the tree order and planting service; the trees will be planted according to this plan. Trees are planted in the spring, as soon as conditions are suitable. The NRD Field Office Secretaries will notify landowners as to the approximate date and time of the planting.
Planting Your Own Trees
Trees to be planted by the producer (hand-plants) can be ordered at the NRCS office. The minimum order for hand-plant trees is a full bundle (25 trees). Please click the link, pdf 2025 Tree list , for available trees.
Deadline To Order Trees
The deadline for placing an order is March 15. Customers will be notified when their hand-plant trees are available.
Cost Share Available
The LRNRD will cost share for hand plantings, a minimum of 100 trees, and for machine plantings costing $1,250 or more. Maximum cost share is $5000 per year and will be paid to the landowner.
